Hunters for the Hungry
The Hunters for the Hungry program is made possible through our partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The program distributes donated deer through local food banks to help feed families. Hunters can donate legally harvested deer to a participating meat processor, who will prepare the venison for distribution through local food banks.
Our Texas food banks then share the healthy, lean meat with families in their communities. Through this program, over 10 million servings of venison have been distributed to Texans across the state.
How to Get Involved
Drop Off Your Deer
You can donate your legally tagged, field-dressed deer to participating meat processors, who will work with food banks for distribution. There is no cost to you! Due to state and federal health regulations, Hunters for the Hungry is not able to accept donations of feral hog.

- Nilgai
- Oryx
- Silka Deer
- Whitetail Deer
Sign Up as a Processor
Become a participating processor by contacting the closest participating food bank to sign up. Prior to each hunting season, partner processors will receive donation receipts, two-pound chub packs for donated venison, and promotional materials. Processors are reimbursed at a market rate that is negotiated in an annual Hunters for the Hungry agreement with the food bank.
Donate
When you register for your hunting license, you can check the box to donate. These funds will directly fuel our efforts to distribute venison to local communities.
You can also donate directly to help us provide hungry Texas with lean, healthy protein! Funds help promote our program and cover the costs of processing donated deer meat that goes to hungry families.
