At Feeding Texas, we develop and monitor nutrition education and health programs tailored to local communities that need it most.

Our network food banks provide over 4,000 classes annually in schools, public housing facilities, food pantries, and feeding sites to reach over 500,000 Texans. The Feeding Texas Health Promotions Team works behind the scenes to manage and evaluate our state-level portfolio of nutrition education programs. Through these programs, Texans learn the best ways to stretch their SNAP dollars, pick out healthy food options at the store, and cook nutritious meals at home.

Impact

Adults who participated in SNAP education classes reported:

  • Greater skills in selecting and cooking healthy foods
  • 22% increase in fruit consumption
  • 24% increase in vegetable consumption.
