When our neighbors have their basic needs met to live a productive, healthy life, Texas thrives. SNAP — the Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program, formerly Food Stamps — helps more than 4 million Texans put food on the table every year. Designed to help families with critical and basic nutrition needs, SNAP is often the first and most effective line of defense against hunger in America.
The Feeding Texas Social Services Outreach team provides skilled support to our food bank partners as they connect people to federal nutrition and health programs — like SNAP — that create a more economically stable Texas. To help eligible families understand and apply for the benefits they need, our Social Services team builds and reinforces food bank capacity by providing localized quality assurance, technical assistance, program evaluation, and comprehensive training.
