This statement is attributable in whole or in part to Celia Cole, CEO of Feeding Texas, regarding the Texas Department of Agriculture’s announcement of $95M in capacity-building funds for food banks:
“Food banks are an important layer of protection against hunger every day, and a critical piece of our state’s response to disasters. We are honored by the trust and commitment these funds represent and will use them effectively and transparently. Food banks will invest these funds in expanding their infrastructure and building the capacity of their communities to reach more people in need.”
“We are especially grateful to our state leaders for investing in the future of Texas hunger relief, as well as to Congress and the White House for making this recovery funding available.”
“Every county in Texas will benefit from the extended reach and strength of food bank operations. More importantly, Texas families who are still working hard to recover from the last two years will know that their leaders are working to make sure they can always put meals on the table.”
Feeding Texas is a statewide network of twenty-one food banks leading a unified effort for a hunger-free Texas. For information on the local investment of these funds, please contact your food bank.
